This house was built by the renowned architect Ignasi Más i Morell, responsible, in large part, of the port which today offers us Sant Pol because for many years it was in charge of the urban project of the municipality. Ignasi Más i Morell was faithful to the aesthetic movement of the “Novecentismo” and among his broad legacy we have the schools of Sant Pol, the Plaza de Toros Monumental and colleges Jesus and Maria de Alicante and Loyola. His work complies with the canons of the ideal Mediterranean classic of Catalan architecture of the beginning of 20th century.
In this case we are talking about his own home, and the project is due to the final model from the rest of the buildings in Sant Pol. The facade of the building is protected. The architect was inspired by the formal structure of the Catalan house, flat facade, 2nd floor with balcony or windows, and the third floor with gallery. Terracotta pieces, vases, balustrades, railings, ceramics, chimneys, eaves and other elements, make up the many architectural details. The hall is very spacious, is flanked by a high base of striking mosaics. In the center, there is a round table that welcomes us and invites us to talk, sheltered from the sun but overlooking the relentless sea just few steps. The arches communicate spaces, high ceilings with beams in wood, doors, furniture, lamps, sculptures, solid chimney of stone, marble, and other decorative nuances that leads us back at the beginning of the last century. A simple wooden staircase leads to the upper floor where we find spacious bedrooms with their bathrooms and balconies. From this floor there is an independent access to the back street. The outside terrace is without doubt, the undisputed jewel of this house. The garden extends in a side wing, which gives privacy to the environment. The main building has an extension in L, which makes possible the redevelopment of this area in a separate apartment.
